Spoilers
Hello, it’s Elliott, and ah, the time has come. I’m going to attempt to control my feeble human mind, from cracking immensely, for the start of this review. There are many beautiful things in this episode that deserve a particular mention from me. Therefore, I shall mention the less emotional things first. Now, in this episode we saw the return of three very key and great characters; Ahildr/Lady Me/Mayor Me (however her needs for a title are served), Rigsy (the great artist with a recently revealed adorable new human as his most prized piece yet) and, of course, most key of all, The Doctor’s clean cut suit; more purple and dashing than ever. I am unsure of whether the return in style serves a sense of significance, or he just felt like changing. We’ll see. It could possibly be a timey-wimey thing. But probably not. We’ll see.
I am glad to see the return of Retcon (a drug used predominantly back in Torchwood), which is nice because it really ties the universe together much much more. Also, the line about Jane Austin and Clara was very random but very cool. I dunno, I just found that quite funny. The scene with Clara hanging from the TARDIS was very cool but also; it was like the final straw to her confidence, well the Clara/Rigsy scene was probably the final straw in that. I loved the concept of the Trap Street and I thought it was done very well, although I don’t particularly see how an emotionally inhibited Cyberman could live in a community such as that. But yes the concept was interesting and amazing, and very much Doctor Who.
Okay, now I can allow myself to speak free. She’s gone, oh she’s gone. This is it. She’s dead. Finito. Worst of all, I really hope they don’t find a way around this, yes I love Clara, but it’s her time – and I know how much this is going to break The Doctor. I think the worst part is, is that it was so stupid. It could’ve been Rigsy, or The Doctor, but she made it so that it was difinitively her. She chose to sacrifice her death. And just the scene itself was beautiful, it wasn’t a kind death. She screamed as her very essence was ripped from her. I am so intrigued, but so scared to see what this does to The Doctor and I can’t wait for next week. The real icing on the cake was Rigsy’s memorial. That was who looked up to her, who cared for her, who was saved by her. And the memorial to her made it even more sad. I love Clara and am very sad to bid her goodbye. She has been great to the series and will continue to be a part of it, even with her departure. Goodbye to Clara Oswald.
